REBATES & PROGRAMS

Basement Waterproofing Rebates in Barrie

There is no grant that pays for excavating your foundation or installing an interior waterproofing system. There is a City program for specific sewer disconnections, and we are happy to help you use it when it applies.

Is There a Waterproofing Rebate in Ontario?

Ontario does not run a province-wide basement waterproofing rebate. Barrie does not pay you to wrap a wall or cut an interior drain. If another city’s flood subsidy appears in your search results — Toronto’s basement flooding program is the usual one — it does not apply to a Barrie address. Keep that in mind before you plan a budget around a grant.

What Barrie does have is Disconnect to Protect, a first-come City rebate for taking rainwater and foundation drainage off the sanitary sewer. It is only for addresses inside Barrie’s municipal boundary. Amounts below are the City’s published figures. Funding can run out. The City must visit before anyone starts. Downspouts aimed at a driveway do not qualify.

Disconnect to Protect Rebate Amounts

These are sewer-protection measures, not a waterproofing menu. If your leak needs a membrane or a perimeter drain, that work is still a quoted waterproofing job. We will tell you honestly if a rebate measure overlaps your leak. quoted waterproofing job.

Redirect existing sump dischargeHomes whose sump currently dumps to sanitary and can discharge to the surface instead.75% of cost, max $200Discharge routing that leaves the foundation, plus invoice and photos after the City visit.
Foundation drain disconnect + new sumpHomes where the foundation drain is tied to sanitary and the City approves a new sump and surface discharge.75% of cost, max $2,000 (building permit required)Sump, pit and discharge work that matches the approved measure — not a full waterproofing package billed as a grant.
Cap sanitary drain + sumpHomes capping a sanitary connection as part of an approved sump setup.75% of cost, max $300 — or $675 if a pit is neededThe sump side of that scope, with documents the City can file.

How We Help With Rebates

  • We tell you if your leak job overlaps a published measure — and if it does not.
  • You call Service Barrie at 705-726-4242 for the eligibility visit first. Work started before that review is not rebated.
  • Contractor jobs need three quotes. The City bases the grant on the lowest one. We give you a written scope you can put beside the others.
  • After the job: a paid itemized invoice, before-and-after photos and a letter that matches what we actually did.
  • Discharge has to land on lawn, garden or a rain garden — not a driveway — and it has to leave the foundation. A hose at the wall will not qualify.

Other Programs People Mix This Up With

Insurance may ask for photos and a scope after a flood. We document the entry point and the work. That is a claim file, not a rebate, but it can still help you get the paperwork in order.

Federal or provincial flood-resilience language you see online is usually research, insurance or another city’s program. We do not attach dollar amounts to those unless a Barrie homeowner can actually apply.

Need a pump or a drain regardless of a grant? Start with the leak. Sump installation and basement waterproofing are quoted on their own.

Rebate questions

Is there a rebate for basement waterproofing in Barrie?+

There is no City of Barrie or Ontario-wide grant that pays for interior drains, exterior excavation or foundation membranes. Barrie’s Disconnect to Protect program rebates specific sanitary disconnections and sump redirects after a City eligibility visit.

Can I use Toronto’s basement flooding subsidy?+

No. That program is for Toronto addresses. Other Ontario cities run their own flood subsidies. A Barrie home does not qualify for Toronto’s.

When do I have to call the City?+

Before the work. Disconnect to Protect requires an eligibility visit first. Work done before that review is not rebated.

What do you provide for a rebate file?+

Itemized invoices, job photos, a written scope and, when the City requires it, help lining up the extra quotes. We do not invent grant amounts or promise a rebate that does not apply.

Does a sump install always qualify?+

Only if it matches a published Disconnect to Protect measure — for example redirecting discharge off the sanitary sewer, or a foundation-drain disconnect the City has already approved. A like-for-like pump swap is not automatically a rebate job.
